NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (AP) - The jury in the trial of a New York man charged with child rape in Massachusetts is scheduled to resume deliberations after twice telling a judge they were deadlocked.

Guy Bush Jr., of Grand Island, New York, is charged with raping a 5-year-old girl in 2001 when he was living in South Hadley with her mother. His first trial last May ended with a hung jury.

The Daily Hampshire Gazette (https://bit.ly/2ppI6ch ) reports the jury in the 47-year-old Bush’s second trial in Hampshire Superior Court twice told a judge last week they could not reach a unanimous decision.

They are scheduled to resume deliberations on Monday.

A defense lawyer said the girl was angry with Bush because she blamed him for causing her parents to split. Bush has repeatedly denied the allegations.
