FREDERICK, Md. (AP) - The owners of The Frederick News-Post are turning over the Maryland newspaper to West Virginia-based Ogden Newspapers Inc.

The News-Post reports (https://bit.ly/2pv3XyW ) that Monday’s formal transfer of ownership marks the first time since the paper was founded in 1883 that descendants of founder William T. Delaplaine will cease to own the newspaper.

The Nutting family, owners of Ogden, got its start in the publishing business in 1890 with the Wheeling News. Ogden also owns newspapers in 14 other states.

Both companies are privately held and have not disclosed financial terms, but the deal will allow the Randall family to pay off debt from the purchase of the News-Post building and printing press.
