SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - A work crew in Louisiana has found the body of a 7-year-old boy who had been missing since a storm Tuesday.

A spokesman for the Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office says coroner’s personnel and Shreveport police have confirmed that the body found Thursday morning by railroad contractors is that of 7-year-old Daysean Combest.

News media report that crews had been searching for him since midafternoon Tuesday.

The child was last seen playing near a ditch, shortly before heavy rains fell Tuesday.

Coroner’s spokesman John Prime says in a news release Thursday that Combest’s body was found about 7:30 a.m. Thursday. It was about two miles from where he’d been last seen, in rocks in Brushy Bayou, just east of some Union Pacific Railroad construction.

An autopsy will be conducted.
