SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) - California officials say a 30-year-old woman is dead after getting tangled in a rope attached to a sinking boat.

The Los Angeles Times reports (https://lat.ms/2wAFmeq ) 30-year-old Tasha Turner of Hemet had been on the boat with six other people on Saturday on their way to go tubing on the Colorado River in a rural area along the Arizona border.

The San Bernardino County Sherriff’s Department says the boat lost power and began to sink. According to police, the six other people were able to swim to safety, but Turner could not free herself from the rope and sank with the boat.

A rescue team was able to recover Turner’s body early Sunday.
