MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - A Tennessee family has lived with a fallen tree on their house for two months while awaiting aid.

WMC-TV reports a large tree fell on the home of Charlette Wright on May 27, leaving her, her husband and their son without electricity since then.

She says they cannot afford to have the tree removed. The family has a generator that allows them to cook and perform a few other tasks requiring electricity, but Wright says it has limitations.

Wright says she has been in near-constant contact with the city for help, and was told at one point that her house wasn’t structurally sound, although a code enforcement official later negated that.

The city of Memphis says it’s waiting for the Federal Emergency Management Agency to approve Wright’s application.
