LAURENS, N.Y. (AP) - A 23-year-old man has been charged with shooting his parents to death in the home he shared with them in rural upstate New York.

The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office says Wednesday that Kevin A. Perry was charged with first-degree murder for the deaths of 59-year-old Timothy Perry and 52-year-old Solveig Perry of Laurens.

Perry was arrested after a high-speed chase that ended in a crash on Interstate 88 in Schoharie County Tuesday night.

Authorities say Perry had fled in his red pickup truck. A family member called police after finding the couple dead and the truck gone.

Perry was arraigned in Oneonta Town Court and sent to the Otsego County Jail without bail. His attorney, Gar Gozigian (GOZ-ih-guhn), did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
