BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Nunez Community College will have a new chancellor beginning in January.

The Louisiana Community and Technical College System’s Board of Supervisors on Wednesday unanimously selected Dr. Tina Tinney to fill the post being vacated by former state Rep. Tommy Warner, who is retiring at the end of the year after serving 17 years as chancellor.

The board at its monthly meeting in Baton Rouge said Tinney’s appointment is effective Jan. 2.

Tinney most recently served as vice chancellor of strategic initiatives at Northshore Technical Community College, where she was instrumental in the programmatic development of its $10 million STEM Campus located in Lacombe.

Nunez, located in St. Bernard Parish, offers more than 25 degree, certificate and certified training programs including healthcare, industrial maintenance, pipefitting, culinary entrepreneurship, HVAC and welding.
