WORCESTER, Vt. (AP) - Vermont State Police say a passenger in an SUV has died after the vehicle struck a tree.

Police said the SUV was heading north on Route 12 in Worcester, Vermont, at about 4:20 p.m. Thursday. There was a combination of snow and slush on the road.

The vehicle veered off the road and ran into a tree. Police say 85-year-old Kenneth Walker, of Worcester, died at the scene. The driver, 75-year-old Lewis Graham, of Plainfield, Vermont, was treated for minor injuries.

Police say based on witness statements, speed was not a factor, nor was impairment. They are investigating.
