WHEELING, W.Va. (AP) - A 45-year-old woman from West Virginia’s northern panhandle has pleaded guilty to embezzlement, admitting she took more than $82,000 from a local credit union.
According to federal authorities, Michelle K. Martin, of Wellsburg, admitted taking the money from October 2016 to May 2017 from the Strip Steal Community Federal Credit Union in Brooke County where she worked.
Her plea agreement calls for restitution and liquidating any assets to help pay it.
Prosecutors say she could face up to 30 years in prison on the single charge.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
