GENEVA, N.Y. (AP) - Police in a city in New York’s Finger Lakes region say they’re made an arrest in the fatal shooting of a 38-year-old man.

Authorities say the shooting occurred around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday on a street in Geneva, on the northern end of Seneca Lake. Police say they responded to Geneva General Hospital for a report of a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Officials say he died from his injuries at the hospital. The victim has been identified as Pliekou Irvin Sr.

Police announced Thursday morning that 30-year-old William McKoy Jr., of Geneva, was arrested at a home in Wolcott in neighboring Wayne County after a standoff that lasted for several hours.

Authorities say he’s scheduled to be arraigned on a second-degree murder charge Thursday.
