BENSON, Vt. (AP) - Vermont state troopers say search efforts for two missing snowmobilers who may have fallen through an icy lake will likely be suspended until Tuesday morning due to winter storm conditions.

State police say relatives and friends alerted them that 23-year-old Brandon Barrett, of Benson, and 32-year-old Jonathan Ryan, of Shoreham, left Benson Village on Thursday evening and never returned.

Police dive teams searched Lake Champlain near the area where their tracks were last seen. WCAX-TV reports teams found their snowmobiles in the water on Sunday morning near the New York shore.

Police say there are no signs the men made it ashore.

Police suspect the men were headed to a restaurant in Ticonderoga (ty-kahn-dur-OH’-gah), New York. Both are experienced snowmobilers and were familiar with the lake.
