DURHAM, N.C. (AP) - Police in Durham are looking into a shooting in which a convenience store clerk was killed.

A statement from police said when officer arrived at the store Tuesday around 7:15 a.m., they found a store worker who had been shot. Spokeswoman Kammie Michael said 41-year-old John Wesley Pruitt Jr. was taken to Duke University Hospital, where he died.

Michael said a second person was taken to the hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound. She said the shooting appears to have stemmed from an attempted armed robbery, and investigators are looking into it.
