STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - The chance to find affordable housing in Steamboat Springs had hopeful residents coming in droves for the chance to get into The Reserves, an affordable housing complex.

The Steamboat Pilot & Today reports (https://bit.ly/2lLNwvk ) that as many as 80 people gathered Monday to hand in their applications for a new 48-unit affordable housing complex set to open in the spring, with some people showing up at 5 a.m. or earlier to try to secure their spot.

Housekeeper Hilda Loya showed up at 3 a.m. to take her place in line. She was evicted in December and says she has no place to go if The Reserves doesn’t let her in.

Rent price for the units at The Reserves is based on household income, and could range from $615 to $959 per month for a two-bedroom unit.
