PASADENA, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say nobody was hurt when a massive tree uprooted and pancaked a car, narrowly missing a home in Pasadena.

Police spokeswoman Lisa Derderian says the 125-foot pine - estimated to be more than 100 years old - came crashing down Tuesday.

The tree crushed a sedan and took out a fence. The home’s residents, a family of four, weren’t home at the time.

Derderian tells KABC-TV (https://bit.ly/2lLhd3y) it’s possible the pine’s roots gave way after weeks of rain saturated the ground. She says authorities are concerned there could be similar incidents when another storm moves in this week.
