TOWSON, Md. (AP) - A Carroll County woman who was missing for more than two weeks has been found dead in her car.

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that a Baltimore County resident found 25-year-old Kristin Marie Spurrier in a vehicle on Monday afternoon, hours after her parents spoke at a news conference to plead for her to return.

Sheriff James DeWees says Spurrier was last seen at a gas station in Owings Mills, where investigators believe she went to purchase drugs.

Valerie Spurrier says her daughter had battled drug addiction problems previously but had been doing well.

Baltimore County Police will assume the lead role in the investigation into Spurrier’s death.
