CENTER POINT, Ala. (AP) - Authorities in Jefferson County say they are investigating the death of a Center Point woman as a homicide.

WBRC-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2lkLmC4 ) the woman was identified Tuesday as 36-year-old Janet Renae Shaw.

Investigators responded to a report of a woman being assaulted at the apartment around 3:30 p.m. Monday. When they arrived, they found Shaw’s body.

The sheriff’s department says her death is being investigated as a homicide. No charges have been announced but a man has been taken into custody in connection with the death.

The cause of death has not been released.
