Regis Philbin likes what he sees so far in Donald Trump’s presidency, saying the newly elected businessman is “getting things done” in the White House like never before.

The TV personality had nothing but praise for Mr. Trump when a TMZ cameraman caught up with him Wednesday night outside a restaurant in West Hollywood.

“I didn’t believe it was going to happen, but he made it,” Mr. Philbin, 85, said excitedly of Mr. Trump’s election.

The cameraman asked if businessmen-turned-elected-officials are what the country needs right now, to which Mr. Philbin responded, “So far I think he’s done quite well, don’t you? He’s getting things done that were never done before.”

“Anyway, who knows,” he added. “But that’s the way it is right now, so we’ll see. I’ll give him a little more time.”

He also had praise for Mr. Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, Judge Neil Gorsuch, whom Mr. Philbin agreed is “smart” enough for the job.

“I kinda like the guy,” Mr. Philbin said.
