JEFFERSON, Ga. (AP) - State troopers say three South Carolina residents are dead following a wreck that ended a police chase in northeastern Georgia.

Authorities say the chase began late Wednesday in Banks County, where a deputy tried to pull over a car for reckless driving and speeding on Interstate 85.

The vehicle exited the highway and crashed with five people inside in Jackson County. A photo from scene shows a crashed car near a tree.

The Georgia State Patrol identifies the three victims as the driver, 21-year-old Rebecca Mack of Greenville, South Carolina; 23-year-old Clifton Gordon of Greenville; and 29-year-old Jamarkeiz Jenkins of Mauldin, South Carolina.

Troopers say two 22-year-old women from Greenville were injured in the crash.
