CARRBORO, N.C. (AP) - Police in Carrboro have charged a man in the 2015 stabbing death of a 56-year-old man whose body was found in his apartment.

Carrboro police told local media outlets on Friday that 32-year-old Tory Amyr Pope of Chapel Hill was charged with first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon. He’s jailed on Orange County without the option of posting bail. Pope was scheduled for a first court appearance on Friday.

Todd Booker Richardson was found dead Dec. 26, 2015, when police went to his Carrboro apartment after being asked to check on him by his brother after he said he hadn’t heard from him in over a week.

An autopsy report said Richardson had been stabbed 17 times and died from multiple wounds to the chest and abdomen.
