JEAN, Nev. (AP) - The Latest on a Nevada police shooting (all times local):

2:40 p.m.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department says one of its officers fatally shot a knife-wielding naked man when he charged the officer after not complying with the officer’s commands and earlier chasing two hotel workers.

Police say the incident occurred Saturday morning in a parking lot at the Gold Spike Hotel and Gambling Hall located in Jean, Nevada, about 30 miles south of Las Vegas.

According to police, the officer encountered the man after responding to multiple reports of a naked man in the hotel’s pool area.

Police say the officer who shot the man before that had fired a bean-bag gun at the man but it was ineffective.

The officer was not injured.

No identities were released.


12:10 p.m.

Authorities say a suspect has been shot near a hotel and gambling hall in southern Nevada and that a police officer was involved but not injured.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department didn’t immediately release circumstances of the shooting but says it occurred Saturday morning in Jean, which is located along Interstate 15 about 30 miles south of Las Vegas.

No identities were released and no additional information was immediately available.
