ITTA BENA, Miss. (AP) - Ta’Jay Henry scored 30 points and grabbed 20 rebounds, both career highs, to lead Mississippi Valley State past Texas Southern for a 103-89 upset win in overtime Monday night.

Tied at 86 at the end of regulation, MVSU (3-17, 3-4 Southwestern Athletic Conference) dominated the extra period 17-3. Isaac Williams hit the go-ahead jumper nearly 20 seconds in and Rashaan Surles got a quick bucket to put the Delta Devils up by four.

Texas Southern (10-10, 6-1) cut the deficit to 90-87 with a free throw from Kevin Scott, but the Tigers went cold from there, missing five-straight shots from the field as MVSU poured in 11 unanswered points to put the game out of reach.

Henry was 13 of 14 from the field. Williams added a career-high 29 points and Marcus Romain had 23 for MVSU, which shot 61.3 percent from the field.

Fifty-seven fouls were called, leading to a combined 74 free-throw attempts.

Scott finished with 24 points to lead four Texas Southern players in double figures. Despite the loss, the Tigers remained in sole possession of first place atop the SWAC standings.
