CHICAGO (AP) - The Shedd Aquarium will be closed Wednesday and Thursday this week for its routine annual maintenance and cleaning.

The popular tourist attraction will reopen on Friday with free admission for Illinois residents through Tuesday. There also will be discounted passes to special exhibits.

Shedd spokeswoman Kayley Ciocci tells the Chicago Tribune (https://trib.in/2jZVzaD ) the work that will be done include everything from cleaning animal habitats to repainting hallway walls. She says during that time more than 200 staffers will also have training sessions.
