NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Two men have admitted they helped illegally smuggle people from India into the United States.

Forty-two-year-old Nileshkumar Patel and 68-year-old Harsad Mehta, both of India, pleaded guilty on Monday in federal court in Newark to conspiracy to smuggle foreign nationals into the United States for commercial advantage and private financial gain.

Patel and Mehta admitted they conspired from June 2013 through October 2015 to make money by recruiting Indian nationals to enter and reside in the U.S.

They face up to 10 years in prison when they are sentenced in May.
