RALSTON, Neb. (AP) - Ralston’s police chief is resigning after seven years to oversee Douglas County Court operations.

The suburban Omaha city said Thursday that Ronald Murtaugh will leave his job in early February.

Nebraska State Court Administrator Corey Steel says Murtaugh’s management and leadership skills were attractive. He will oversee 86 people at the courts.

Ralston Mayor Don Groesser says Murtaugh has done a great job running the police department. The city will name an interim chief within the next month and initiate a search for a full-time replacement.
