BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) - A Belgrade woman has been sentenced to prison for stealing mail and assaulting a Montana Highway Patrol trooper.

The Bozeman Daily Chronicle reports (https://bit.ly/2ieYxUv ) that 36-year-old Katlyn Dedycker on Wednesday was sentenced to four years in prison followed by 10 years of probation for assault on a peace officer, theft and issuing bad checks. She was also ordered to pay more than $12,300 in restitution.

Surveillance video showed Dedycker and her husband redeeming three stolen $100 gift cards at Target on Dec. 23. Prosecutors allege Dedycker took a package with a tracking device from a mailbox on Feb. 1. She was arrested soon after. Some of the stolen items were recovered from the Dedycker residence.

When the theft case was pending, Dedycker was arrested for scratching a trooper after she was found intoxicated.
