ATHENS, Ala. (AP) - Authorities confirm two people are dead in an apparent murder-suicide in Limestone County.

Sheriff Mike Blakely tells WAAY-TV (https://bit.ly/2hZhrm6 ) deputies responded to a 911 call about 10 a.m. Friday and found a well-known couple in the Copeland community dead.

Blakely identified them as 74-year-old Jackie Perry and 73-year-old Linda Perry. Both sustained gunshot wounds. Sheriff’s spokesman Stephen Young said authorities believe Jackie Perry shot his wife during a domestic incident.

Blakely says the couple was going through a divorce and Linda Perry had arrived at the home to pick up belongings.

Neighbors were shocked to hear the news. Roger Lowery says he’s lived next door to the Perrys for more than 12 years and can’t imagine why Jackie Perry would do what the sheriff’s office suggests.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
