WINOOSKI, Vt. (AP) - The body of a missing 11-year-old boy has been recovered from the Winooski River in between Burlington and Winooski.

Police said four children were playing near the river when Ali Muhina fell into the water Tuesday evening.

Emergency crews searched the river Tuesday night but called off the search later because of rough conditions in the water.

The family told a Burlington Free Press reporter that Ali and his family were Somali and had lived for years in refugee camps in Kenya before arriving in the U.S. a year ago.

His body was found on Wednesday.

The Burlington Free Press reports (https://bfpne.ws/2tdQQSY ) that it’s the second water-related safety incident in two days in the region. Seventeen-year-old Christian Kibabu, of Burlington, drowned in Lake Champlain near Oakledge Park on Monday.
