WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - A pet cat missing from a Delaware family has been returned after he was found across state lines 60 miles (97 kilometers) away.

The News Journal reports the Redicks and Barry were reunited on Wednesday after realizing the cat had probably got out through their broken backdoor Saturday evening.

Emma Redick says Barry had never left home before, as the 3-year-old indoor cat is always around besides sneaking away for naps underneath beds. Redick says her three children had taken Barry’s unknown whereabouts hard.

Redick says she called nearby shelters and went door-to-door, before a Hockessin veterinary hospital scanned Barry’s ID microchip and called, saying he was dropped off from Landenberg, Pennsylvania.

Redick thinks Barry was mad because they got a new kitten he doesn’t like very much.
