DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) - Authorities have removed a body from the Mississippi River around Dubuque.

The Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office says barge workers observed the body in the water early Friday near the Mines of Spain recreation area. Several emergency responders assisted in retrieving the body.

The body will be transported to the state medical examiner’s office in Ankeny for an autopsy.

Authorities say they have identified the body, but additional information will not be released until family is notified. A private railroad police force has taken over the investiagation.
