MILWAUKEE (AP) - Authorities at the Milwaukee County Jail are trying to catch up with a two-day backlog of bookings after its computer system crashed.

Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Fran McLaughlin says the system went down Wednesday morning. McLaughlin says the system was fixed late Thursday.

While the system was down, authorities at the jail and Milwaukee County’s House of Correction handled bookings and releases manually. McLaughlin says officials are re-entering those manual bookings.

The jail books about 100 inmates a day and releases about the same number.

Officials say the shutdown did not impact security at either facility.

This story corrects that outage happened Wednesday morning instead of Thursday morning.
