SALEM, Mass. (AP) - Grief counselors are available at a Massachusetts school attended by a fifth-grader hit and killed by a train.
Salem Mayor Kim Driscoll identified the boy killed last week as 10-year-old Jaydon Dancy, a student at Carlton Innovation School.
Authorities say the boy was with a group of other boys at a park Friday when he tried to cross nearby tracks to retrieve his bicycle. Investigators believe Jaydon tried to cross around 8 p.m. after an outbound commuter train passed by, not noticing an inbound train that arrived about a minute later.
Transit police continue to investigate. Prosecutors say there is no reason to suspect foul play, calling the boy’s death a “terrible accident.”
