Comedy Central’s all-female comedy series “Broad City” will bleep out President Trump’s name as an act of protest in its upcoming fourth season.

Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer, who were forced to rewrite the fourth season after Hillary Clinton’s stunning election defeat, told USA Today that they refuse to give Mr. Trump any air time.

“There’s no airtime for this orange [person],” Ms. Glazer said. “We bleep his name the whole season.”

They said they initially wrote the season under the assumption that Mrs. Clinton would win the presidential election. The failed Democratic nominee even made a brief guest appearance on the show last year.

“We wrote [Season 4] being like, ‘Here we go! Hillary for president!’ ” Ms. Glazer said. But after “this game-show host became president of our country, we rewrote a lot.”

In an interview last week with The Daily Beast, Ms. Jacobson said Season 4 is “so relevant” to the current political climate.

“We are trying to comment on what’s going on and say how we feel, but another goal is to have people laugh in this dire state,” she said.

Ms. Glazer added, “I think it’s our responsibility to optimize the platform of ‘Broad City’ to keep pushing things left and keep resisting the current administration as much as we can.”

“We’re even escaping, in a way, when we’re talking about the current administration,” she said. “Because laughing at it makes it easier to function in it. Part of it is full escape, part of it is full messaging and there’s somewhere in the middle of like, being able to cope with it through laughter.”

Season 4 will be set in New York City in the dead of winter — a break from previous seasons that took place in the summertime.

“It is dark as f—,” Ms. Glazer told The Daily Beast. “It is as dark as the world is today.”
