CHANDLER, Ariz. (AP) - Police in Chandler say a man standing on a roof and outfitted in a bulletproof vest fired an arrow at an officer late Wednesday night.

Police say 32-year-old Thomas Leeper struck the officer in the arm with his bow and arrow.

Police were responding to the home after family members called saying they were concerned about Leeper.

Leeper has an extensive criminal history and is going on trial later this year for his alleged involvement in a string of arson fires.

The officer was treated for non-life threatening injuries. Leeper faces charges of aggravated assault.
