TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Tulsa police have released the names of three officers who fatally shot a man as he tried to break into a home.

A news release Thursday says Cpl. Joel Ward and officers Chad Murtaugh and Tracy Komasa shot 47-year-old Jimmie Bevenue on Saturday in east Tulsa.

Police say officers had stopped after seeing a stolen vehicle outside a home and approached three people standing outside the vehicle when Bevenue, armed with a gun, ran from the home to an adjoining house and kicked open a back door after ignoring orders to drop the weapon.

Police say the officers opened fire to prevent Bevenue from entering the home.

Police say a woman inside the home was not injured.
