ASHLAND, Neb. (AP) - The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is inviting people to celebrate amphibians at Mahoney State Park.

It’s Salamander Saturday at the park. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Riverview Lodge, visitors will be able to see salamanders and create salamander armbands. From 1 to 1:45 p.m., University of Nebraska-Lincoln herpetologist Dennis Ferraro will discuss the disappearance of the western tiger salamander from eastern Nebraska.

A park entry permit is required for all vehicles. The park sits on the west bank of the Platte River southeast of Ashland and can be reached by taking Exit 426 north off Interstate 80.
