CLIFTON, N.J. (AP) - New Jersey police are searching for a trio of motorcyclists who initiated a dangerous police chase across state highways last week.

Clifton Police Department spokesman Detective Lt. Robert Bracken says the three dirt bikes had no license plates, and he tells NorthJersey.com (https://njersy.co/2tsxNYX ) one of the bikers tailgated a police cruiser at high speeds.

Police attempted to stop the bikers but they refused to pull over. Police initiated a chase across the highly trafficked highway.

Bracken says the suspects drove erratically, causing other motorists to stop short in panic. The pursuit continued onto multiple highway routes, and eventually the chase was stopped due to the dangerous methods used by the bikers to evade police.

The suspects remain at large, and anyone with information is asked to contact Clifton police.
