BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - Don’t have a North Dakota fishing license but want to try to land a whopper? It’s no problem this weekend.

Saturday and Sunday is the one weekend out of the year during which North Dakotans don’t need a license to drop a line in state waters.

The Game and Fish Department holds the special weekend every year. The goal is to enable people who are new to fishing to give it a try.

While no license is required, all other regulations still apply.

Residents who are age 15 and younger don’t need a license to fish at any time of the year.
