BECKER, Minn. (AP) - A Becker man is making it his mission to thank Minnesota’s Vietnam War veterans - one plaque at a time.

Roger Bigalke carries a bag of plaques wherever he goes. They’re in the shape of the state of Minnesota, with the words “You served with honor. Welcome home” etched on them.

Bigalke tells WJON radio (https://bit.ly/2rMtabj ) that he’s handed out more than 230 plaques so far.

He says it started last fall when the Becker Beyond The Yellow Ribbon committee held a welcome home event and awarded 75 plaques. Bigalke says he didn’t want it to end there, so he had more plaques made to give away.

He’s taking donations to help with the cost of the plaques, which go for $13 each. They can be sent to the Becker American Legion post.
