PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - The cost of a gallon of gasoline in Rhode Island is down by a penny this week.

AAA Northeast said Monday that self-serve, regular is selling for an average of $2.33 per gallon. That’s four cents lower than the national average and two cents higher than the Rhode Island price at this time a year ago.

AAA says the moderate decline in gas prices is typical following a long holiday weekend.

AAA found self-serve, regular selling for as low as $2.15 and as high as $2.49 per gallon.
