SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - San Francisco police are investigating an officer who was caught on video telling a group of Asian and Hispanic men that they were going to be deported and threatening to involve federal immigration agents.

KNTV reports (https://bit.ly/2rR1G4z) the officer’s comments were caught on hidden camera last month while its investigative team was producing a story about the city’s black market for stolen merchandise.

Police spokeswoman Giselle Talkoff on Tuesday declined to release the officer’s name.

She said the department stands by its commitment to fostering trust and cooperation with all people in the city.

San Francisco prides itself as a sanctuary city that limits cooperation with immigration authorities. At a San Francisco Board of Supervisors meeting last month, Chief William Scott said department policy prohibits officers from enforcing immigration laws.
