CLEVELAND, Miss. (AP) - The Mississippi Department of Corrections says officers made one of the largest contraband busts of the year at a facility in Cleveland, confiscating items like drugs and cell phones.

The MDOC tells local media that during the bust Tuesday, officers at the Bolivar County Correctional Facility found 54 packages of tobacco, 47 cell phones, 83 phone chargers, 27 sets of headphones, four shanks, two knives, pills, tennis shoes, marijuana, cigarettes and cigars.

MDOC Commissioner Pelicia Hall says finding such a large amount of contraband is “disturbing,” and ordered that the facility go on lockdown pending an investigation.

Bolivar County Regional is one of 15 such facilities in the statewide prison system. It had 294 inmates as of Tuesday morning.
