HAZLETON, Pa. (AP) - A Pennsylvania diner is being born again - as a church.

The (Hazleton) Standard-Speaker (https://bit.ly/2mPf72J ) reports the Hollywood Diner and Sports Bar is being purchased and renovated by a non-denominational Christian church.

Hill City Church is currently located in another repurposed building in Hazleton Heights. It was founded seven years ago in the home of its pastor, the Rev. Clark Gerhart. The church is affiliated with Lives Change by Christ Church, which has nine locations in the state.

The diner on Hazleton’s Airport Beltway never enjoyed long-term success. Construction which began in 2007 was delayed by financing problems, and the business didn’t open until 2010. Various managers ran the restaurant before it filed for bankruptcy in January 2014, reopened briefly then closed.
