ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - The final days of skating are underway at the Empire State Plaza in downtown Albany.

State officials say the rink adjacent to the state Capitol is nearing its goal of 20,000 skaters for the season.

So far, there have been more than 18,500 skate rentals recorded this winter at the rink, which has already surpassed last year’s total of 17,000 skaters.

The rink is open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and skating is always free. The season ends Sunday night.
