CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have charged a suspect in the fatal stabbing of two people.

A statement from police on Friday said 30-year-old Corey Daniel Shirly is charged with two counts of murder in the deaths of 27-year-old Yesenia Elena McMillon and 25-year-old Deandre Terrell Olsen.

The statement said someone called 911 Friday morning to say a man had been stabbed and was knocking on the caller’s door. That victim died at a local hospital. Police also said a second stabbing victim was found inside another home and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Shortly after 1 a.m., police said they received a call from someone who said they had killed two people.

Shirly is being held in the county jail. It’s not known if he has an attorney.
