Arnold Schwarzenegger says he’s quitting “The Celebrity Apprentice” after hosting only one season, because he doesn’t want to be associated with President Trump, who still has an executive producer credit on the show.

“I learned a lot, I had a great time, it was a really great opportunity,” the former Republican governor told Empire in an interview published Friday. “But under the circumstances I don’t want to do it again.”

Empire interview James Dyer said he mentioned a recent report by The Wrap that said half the show’s sponsors from last season have left over boycott threats. Mr. Schwarzenegger confirmed the report and said Mr. Trump is to blame.

“It’s not about the show,” he said. “Because everyone I ran into came up to me and said ‘I love the show … but I turned it off because as soon as I read Trump’s name I’m outta there!’

“When people found out that Trump was still involved as executive producer and was still receiving money from the show, then half the people [started] boycotting it,” he continued.

“Even if asked [to do it again] I would decline,” he added. “With Trump being involved in the show, people have a bad taste and don’t want to participate as a spectator or as a sponsor or in any other way support the show. It’s a very divisive period now and I think this show got caught up in all that division.”

Mr. Trump, who hosted the show from 2004 to 2015, has mocked Mr. Schwarzenegger for the low ratings in the past. At the National Prayer Breakfast last month, he offered a prayer for his successor after he said the show’s ratings “went right down the tubes.”

The backlash against “The Celebrity Apprentice” is being fueled by the #GrabYourWallet campaign, which encourages people to boycott businesses associated with the president and his family.
