READING, Pa. (AP) - A Pennsylvania man has been found guilty of trying to drown his girlfriend in a pond near a hookah lounge more than a year ago.

A Berks County jury on Wednesday convicted 30-year-old Tyler Heagy of attempted murder, aggravated assault and other charges. He is set to be sentenced on March 13.

The victim testified that Heagy, of Lebanon, began yelling at her for talking to another man outside the bar on Sept. 27, 2015 in Cumru Township.

Police said Heagy punched the 27-year-old woman in the face and chased her, attempting to apologize. He then dragged her to a nearby pond by her ankles after she rejected his apology. Heagy was holding the woman’s head under water until a mutual friend and off-duty bouncer intervened and she got away.
