PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) - The mayor of Umatilla, Oregon, has resigned, citing irreconcilable differences with the city council.

The East Oregonian newspaper reports (https://is.gd/mdWoBl ) David Trott has clashed with the council over the performance of the city manager, and his belief that the manager wasn’t forthright in his job application.

Trott called a special executive session in January to discuss his concerns and the council chose to take no action.

In a resignation email, Trott accused the council of putting “its collective head in the sand” when it comes to the problems facing the small city.

The council next meets Tuesday.
