HARPSWELL, Maine (AP) - The historic wharf at Bailey Island is under new ownership.

Arthur Girard of AMG Holdings bid $510,000 to gain control of the wharf that’s home to Casco Bay lines and is used by commercial fishermen.

Cook’s Lobster and Ale House, a popular eatery, abuts the wharf. Restaurant owners Nick and Jennifer Charboneau were outbid.

Jennifer Charboneau told The Times Record that the pier is in need of repairs that could cost nearly as much as the purchase price.

Girard’s track record of ocean property transactions includes a winning bid in 2014 for ownership of Boon Island Lighthouse off the coast of Cape Neddick and donating Ram Island in Saco Bay to the University of New England in 2015.
