SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Police say the human remains discovered last week by hikers in a mountainous area outside Salt Lake City are of a man who went missing last year.

KSL-TV reports that the body was identified as 24-year-old Blake Richardson, who was last seen near a remote lake in the Millcreek Canyon area in December 2016.

Police Lt. Brian Lohrke says the remains had mostly decomposed and were discovered near a trail. The bones were sent to the Utah State Medical Examiner’s Office for analysis.
