MILFORD MILL, Md. (AP) - A church and its pastor have filed a lawsuit against a Maryland county for denying plans to use a house as a church.

The Baltimore Sun reports Jesus Christ is the Answer Ministries Inc. and the Rev. Lucy Ware filed the lawsuit, which says Baltimore County’s regulations unfairly burden religious organizations, on Friday.

Ware purchased the Milford Mill-area home in 2012 and had to apply for variances over setback and parking issues.

Board of Appeals filings show neighbors complained after vehicles were parked on the grass when Ware held events.

The board ruled against Ware and the case went to the Maryland Court of Special Appeals, which upheld prior decisions.

Ware applied again this year, but the board “refused to substantively review the application.”

County officials wouldn’t comment on the litigation.
